What does end of support mean?
When Windows 7 reaches end of support on January 14, 2020, your computer will still function but Microsoft will no longer provide technical support for any issues, software updates or security updates or fixes. While you could continue to use your PC running Windows 7, without continued software and security updates, it will be at greater risk for viruses and malware. Going forward, the best way for you to stay secure is on Windows 10. And the best way to experience Windows 10 is on a new PC. While it is possible to install Windows 10 on your older device, it is not recommended.
No More Security Updates – Unless You Pay!
On January 14, 2020, Microsoft will end support and discontinue issuing security updates for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2. To go forward, you will have to pay Microsoft for Extended Security Updates. For Windows 7 Pro Users, it’s $50 for the first year, $100 for year two and $200 for year three, per device. For servers the cost is much greater. Upgrade your systems now to ensure your computers are secure!
